The whole idea of tax cuts is to keep an economy rolling by having the government impose as little of a drag as possible.

You'd better stick to making wafers. Your understanding of economics is very limited. The tax cuts were one of the most misguided examples of the Bushies' incompetency. Those cuts can be connected to the plummeting dollar, the ever rising deficit and debt woes, the falling yield on the treasury bonds, and the general flight from the dollar to the euro. The financial markets are in a turmoil and some major banks could fall.
