Bernanke needs to bring the fed rates down lower if he wants to be of any help. Someday we're going to have to face the music... the combination of low interest rates, twin deficits and oil prices are killing the dollar. We don't want to become a 'second world' economy. We may if our largest banks start to go under. Citi, WM, WB etc are all in trouble. No one is willing to touch their subprime stuff with a ten foot pole so they can't get the garbage off their books. I suspect something like the Resolution trust corp will have to be set up to deal with the mess.
