The Financial Post reports in its Friday,
October 10, edition that Bre-X Minerals
president David Walsh has confirmed fraud
was committed at the company's Busang gold
property and that documents were shredded at
the company's Calgary headquarters over a
period of several days before RCMP
investigators moved in, says a Calgary lawyer
who cross examined Mr Walsh earlier this
week. The Post's Mel Duval writes that Mr
Walsh who underwent a full day's grilling
Wednesday from lawyers filing class action
suits, said he did not believe fraud was being
perpetrated until an investigative report was
filed by Strathcona Mineral Services in May.
The examination of Mr Walsh revealed some
disturbing new points. They include: Mr Walsh
repeatedly referred to himself as the "money
man" in the operation and that it was John
Felderhof who was responsible for operations
in the field; Mr Walsh now admits that Busang
I is now probably worthless.
