They have always operated on the principle that any Republican is going to be a better president than any Democrat. They have found out that is wrong. And Rudy looks to be Bush on steroids with an even more abstract approach to real world problems and promising to sink us even deeper into the ME swamp than we are now. Plus, he doesn't seem to have any stance on the economy. Given his history of sweetheart contracts, it will probably be even more rape and pillage than under Bush. The old guard doesn't have a huge problem with pillaging, but the rape part leaves them a little queasy. They aren't big fans of poisoning the well, but much prefer being able to come back again and again.
