It just seems odd to me that these warrants could be forcible redeemed/exercised when until today they have not been exercisable.

Actually, the warrants cannot be redeemed until after the close of a transaction.

Redemption

We may redeem the outstanding warrants

-- in whole and not in part,

-- at a price of $.01 per warrant at any time after the warrants become exercisable,


All of the shipping related blank check companies have done well. You might want to take a look at Oceanaut and its warrants. This morning, the commons shares (OKN) and warrants (OKN-WT) are trading at $7.93 and $2.08, respectively. OKN has a deal pending The units were originally priced at $8.00 and the exercise price on the warrants is $6.00.
