What a day.

The ostensibly bullet-proof Swiss Fr., Yen and Au are wounded by children using water guns, financials are again golden due to a Abu Dhabian injection of a few billion into a near lifeless corpse at near-usurious interest rates, and the vast amount of writedowns not yet done loom on the horizon like enormous asteroids 50 miles above Earth.

Can anyone spell l-i-q-u-i-d-a-t-i-o-n-s on the way?

Not even going to mention trillions [with a 't'] of dollars worth of mostly unhedged derivatives ready to unwind at a moment's notice just like it happened to long positions in early August. Enough to make LTCM look like an ice cream social. Who'll pull the pin on this massive grenade waiting to explode?

Bears have either been given a well-deserved thrashing or a terrific opportunity.

And, oh, by the way, here come new and improved rate cuts to make the dollar worth less and the Swiss Fr., Yen and gold more, but who would have thought so given today's rally?

Going to take the advice of folks much, much smarter than me and sit on the sidelines, enjoy this Comedy of Errors.
