Eight blockbuster hits will be brought to the newly-announced format in time for the holiday season. This first wave includes Disney's huge $100 million box-office, summer hit, GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE, debuting on DVD day-and-date with its direct-to-sell-through video release (December 2). Also being released on DVD, the blockbuster thriller, SCREAM, will be available simultaneously with its sell-through video release (also December 2). RANSOM, THE ROCK, TOMBSTONE and PHENOMENON also are available on December 2, along with the one-of-a-kind perennial holiday favorite TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, and Disney's beloved live-action family classic, HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY. Six titles in BVHE's first wave of DVD releases, including RANSOM, THE ROCK, TOMBSTONE, SCREAM, PHENOMENON and TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS will be presented in widescreen format. As well, each title in the slate will be single-sided, allowing consumers to watch all programming without interruption.
All titles in the release slate offer consumers either Dolby Digital or Dolby Surround Sound. Featuring interactive menus, each DVD allows viewers to access multiple language tracks and/or subtitles, chapter search and, as a special bonus, the movie's original theatrical trailer.
