NHC Communications Inc. Has Been Awarded a Two-Year Contract for the Supply of Token Ring LAN Extension Products by British Telecom Plc.

NHC Communications Inc. (NHC), a leading manufacturer of switching and fiber solutions, has signed a two-year contract with British Telecom Plc. to supply NHC's Token Ring LAN extension products.
The LES3 Service of British Telecom provides seamless LAN interconnection at 4/16 Mbps for 802.5 networks. "By extending the environment, LES3 gives the necessary bandwidth, reliability and transparency up to 40km in distance, just like connecting to the next office along."
The CityLAN16 of NHC is designed specifically for the LAN Extension applications -- providing Cross-City Links at Native LAN speeds for private backbone, Metropolitan Corporate fiber rings and Service Provider remote points of presence. SNMP Management is provided both in-band and serially out-of-band. CityLAN16 offers the most reliable, efficient data transfer available, consistently delivering the resilience required by a demanding marketplace.
NHC markets a range of LAN Protocol Extenders that provide a set of solutions for seamless LAN extension, under the CityLAN banner, notably CityLAN10 and CityLAN100, in addition to 16. Further product announcements for ATM, with the CityLAN155, are anticipated early in 1998.
