TiVo: Court Finds Time Warp Patent Claims Valid 1:59 PM EST November 29, 2007 DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Tivo Inc. (TIVO) said Thursday that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has now found all claims of the company's "Time Warp" patent to be valid after conducting a reexamination of the patent requested by EchoStar Communications (DISH). TiVo had sued EchoStar in 2004, alleging that the latter's digital video recorders infringed on TiVo's "time warp" technology. TiVo, based in Alviso, Calif., pioneered digital recorders that allow viewers to pause, rewind and fast forward live television shows.
