OK, this discussion group is comatose, but here's some news that might revive it. GraphOn filed a notice of settlement late last Tuesday in its patent infringement suit against AutoTrader. Thursday (today), the company's stock traded at 2x (200%) the Tuesday close, at a volume that was 23x (2300%) the 3 month moving average.

What's driving this is that GraphOn's patent portfolio, which arguably extends to most of internet commerce, passed its first legal test successfully. This event sets the company on track to a liquidity event that could surpass the 2004 Microsoft/Intertrust settlement ($453M for a license to a single patent) in magnitude and importance. I think GraphOn, which is otherwise a ho-hum player in a small market, has the potential to be acquired for a price at least comparable to the 2004 MS settlement. This will be an interesting and potentially very profitable ride, developing over the next 12 months as awareness of the breadth and value of the company's IP spreads throughout the industry.

If you're at all interested in GraphOn, stay tuned.
