You're quite ignorant about the the history of both Christianity and philosophy ch. Look up Thomas Aquinas, for starters. While the Catholic Church was in many periods a retrograde influence for the development of human freedom, the Protestant Revolution could never have existed without the development of such ideas in the Church during the Medieval Period.
