Thanks for the great question.

I have followed the industry for a while. I have seen no indicator that INTC has any desire to mfg for clients. Perhaps I am woefully ignorant. They mfg'd Alpha chips for Compaq after buying the production lines of DEC when Compaq was still producing Alpha 64 computers. The merger of HPQ relieved them of that burden and they inherited DEC engineers who likely had a different perspective than their own engineers.

IBM is delighted to custom manufacture as is VIA. Obviously TSM is in the business. NSM is out and Harris appears to out. Given that INTC can fill their fabs with their own designs, why would they custom produce?
