EC: "How does one accurately know how much one does not know unless one knows exactly what one does not know?"
koan: "Good question EC-lol? My number one pet peeve! The answer of course, is that we don't know-lol."
The greatest epiphany of my life had to do with that question. It was a sunny summer California day and I was walking past the dorms.
At that moment I realized I not only did not know the answers, (I had no idea why Plato was a great man or what he was talking about) I did not even know the questions!
I was 24 and spent the next two years lieing on a white couch, listening to the blues and reading every great thinker I discovered. Better than half the time I had no idea what they were talkign about, but I persevered-lol.
And slowly out of the fog of ignorance and confusiion, appeared an existential world that made perfect sense to me.
Further to that, It has been my observatione that people will generally believe just about anything.
Which is why I am such a zealot about applying the scientific method! It is our only compass to the truth, considering most of us, most of the time, functon as though we had just taken two tablets of purple Owsley.
Science is what brought us out of the "dark ages" and escorted us into the "age of enlightenment'.
And all the while, the forces of ignorance, clinging to us like alien zombies, are trying with all their strength to draw us back into the dark void of nothingness-lol. |
