Yesterday's bizarre turn of events for the BCS "Championship" game have shown the need for a playoff system limited to more than two teams chosen in a popularity contest as it is now.

Everyone knows football bragging rights often come down to a lucky or unlucky gust of wind on a last second field goal. But at least it should be decided on the field.

A proposal for a playoff of twelve teams (with four getting byes in the first round) makes sense to me. It would be combined with some Bowl Games for various "wouldn't-you-like-to-see" match-ups for regional and other rivalry bragging rights. The article which convinced me is at
