If all thing were equal you might have a point...but the fact that america consumes more than any other country gives us the leverage to make a much greater difference......what is it ...1/4 off all energy is consumed by the US ?
if that is the case a 20 percent reduction in the us would translate into 5% world wide.......but pollution tends to be local so it will be americans who benefit the most from the reduction.

ps i believe that country wide conversion to led lighting might save 10% but dont quote me.....but do look at LED lighting as an investment possibility...really really
