India has demonstrated that for half a century: <Future will show, that democracy doesn't = wealth. I'm not saying I'm against democracy. What I'm saying is that demo is not a condition sine qua non for wealth acquisition. > They continue to vote themselves poor. Richard Branson has been sent packing with his $billions. "We don't need your stinking money!" He's a nice bloke so it's a bit odd that they are like that, but each to their own.

<People vote for Helen to distribute the wealth of NZ and look like they are making a good effort at voting themselves into poverty. >

Election after election, down the gurgler we go. Wait until the debt repayments hit - NZ owes a LOT of money to Japan. Refinancing should be a lot of fun. When the NZ$ drops and imports are expensive, people will suddenly find inflation taking off [it already has if you count house buying, even with a very high NZ$].

Venezuela should vote themselves a president for life. They would deserve it. They feel quite smug with oil at $90 a barrel. Let's see how they go when it drops back to $40.
