With Earth's atmosphere having been stripped away over eons by living things consuming the carbon, and carbon by the petaton buried in limestone, shale, coal, peat, gas, oil, bitumen, Earth is much more likely to end up frozen like Mars rather than hot like Venus.

For billions of years, Earth has been cooling, crystallizing, freezing. The trend has not stopped. Gaia is not in happy self-balancing harmony. Gaia is a suicidal maniac who must be stopped.

After a century of vast effort to burn hydrocarbons and coal, all we have achieved is 380 ppm. Pathetic. With luck, we might get to 450ppm before the human population starts dropping fast after Peak People and Peak Oil in 2037 is reached.

Since 1500 ppm was common millions of years ago, it doesn't seem likely that even 1000 ppm would be a problem. But we won't be getting there any time soon. Meanwhile, plants are loving it.
