Jfred, how on earth can anybody know stuff like this: Don't they hide it in the back alcoves of libraries? Nobody actually knows it for goodness sake. Do you just make it up as you go or copy it out of a book? Same with all the religious tracts - I know they just copy those quotes out. 783 until the Constitution replaced that system in 1789. Forrest MacDonald has written some excellent books on this era, "Requiem", "Novus Ordo Seclorum" and "E Pluribus Unum" coming to mind. M Stanton Evans claims that Jefferson got the idea for the Declaration from an Huguenot "Remonstrance" of two centuries earlier. I believe Evan's book is "The Theme Is Freedom"
