The formula decided the Buckeyes (11-1) boasted the most unimpeachable credentials, likely because Ohio State was the only "elite" team with one loss. Of course, that loss came at home to unranked Illinois in the season's penultimate game. Of course, Kansas (10-1) has a nearly identical profile, except the Jayhawks absorbed their sole loss at a neutral site against a top-five team (Missouri).

This is the same Ohio State team that didn't play, much less beat, a single top-20 team. And it's a decidedly lesser version of the Buckeyes bunch that was decimated in the desert by Florida in last season's title game 41-14. But, hey, none of that matters. Deep Blue likes the Buckeyes, so you'll swallow Ohio State and like it.

I think Hawaii played a top 20 team.
