Either issue by itself would be less severe than the combination. My God how profound! Medicare is a problem because of the cost od medical care in this country. You cut it in half to match the rest of the industrialized countries and the problem goes away. Doing that IS a significant challenge... especially with people with your mindset. SS takes a slight adjustment up in taxes. Maybe a slight adjustment in benefits. Eventually followed by an adjustment down in taxes. It's not the end of the world.
