I have white ancestors who fought in the Union Army (one died in service). Another white ancestor sheltered runaway slaves (the socalled underground railroad). And finally, a few of my ancestors were blacks ... freed slaves. How does all that enter into the mix?

We must all support actions which level the playing field for all people in this country no matter their race, gender or ethnicity.

How about my many coworkers who are Nigerian or Africans from other countries? Their ancestors, for all I know, could have sold some of my ancestors into slavery. Should they benefit from affirmative action?

You work with "many Nigerians and Africans"? Where do you work? The UN?

Are they citizens? From what little I know, I don't think they should benefit from AA.
