Again, that might be true of most of the games out there, but there are 100s of games, and only a hand full of A+ titles that enthusiast sites use in their reviews. And most of the A+ titles are in fact optimized for the most recent CPUs. Witness all the recent games optimized for dual core and quad core: Unreal Engine 3, Supreme Commander, Bioshock, Lost Planet, etc.

Re: Less than 10% of the installed base ever uses Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Cinebench, etc.

And what does the majority use...? E-mail and web browser (yawn!). But out of the major computational programs that are heavily used in the industry (i.e. the ones that drive high end processor sales), which ones used by review sites do *not* come with any performance optimizations? Come on, Pete... I'm waiting....
