Or the tail is wagging the dog or maybe the dog is finally wagging the tail. Perhaps this signifies a change of policy that will lead to accomodation in iraq and a general improvement in relations with iran. Iran doesnt need nukes and some have always believed the threat of nukes had more to do with restoring normal relations between them and the west. Perhaps in a very strange way policies have worked.
And you mention syria too. What if the israeli attack and subsequent events such as syrias participation in annapolis is leading to normalization there as well? If bush leaves office with libya, North Korea, iran and syria rejoining the family of nations, albeit not as perfect partners, & al quaeda driven out iraq, it will be a major accomplishment. Also, if pakistani democracy proves more robust than expected, we can finally get back to the point of post 9/11 policy and thats finally routing out al quaeda in their safe areas. mike@morningoptimism.com
