I am worried about global inventories of most crops. I wonder how much of the new corn plantings are GMO's?

I share your concern, Eric. For us in developed parts of the world, poor or failed crops merely exhibits itself as increased prices for the goods in our grocery stores. The shelves themselves remain as stocked as normal. In developing nations? Catastrophe. Now add non-human consumption demands. We are doing ourselves [humanity at large] in.

Good question about the corn. I do not know.

The only GMO crop I have any real knowledge of is sorghum, specifically Serena. Although it yields more bushels per acre, it: 1. Does not taste as good as native varieties; 2. Seems to be a magnet for rodents and insects (compared with native varieties; 3. Totally zaps nutrients from the soil.
