The price increase last week was probably due to the Epogen patent. Investors Business Daily ran a story on Thursday. The summary read "Amgen Inc. received a patent covering its drug to treat anemia in kidney disease patients ... called Epogen. The drug is used for the treatment of anemia in people who are undergoing kidney dialysis."
