Perhaps you are unaware of the draft report from Ira Magaziner and Hillary Clinton's Health SCare Task Force. It clearly recommended that providing health care outside of the socialized net should be a Felonious Crime.

When a doctor is unwilling to go to jail to keep me from dying, the government has the power of life and death over me. This gives bureaucrats, most of whom try to remain honest, the power to sentence me to death because of some perceived slight.

"The flip side is that that the government currently influences your end of life by making assisted suicide illegal. It effectively makes the determination if you are too disabled to end your life yourself. IMO, too few people are troubled by that interference."

That is probably more of a Libertarian discussion than a health care one.
