"France was in Vietnam for 20 years before we stepped in..." France blew the Marshall Plan money that we gave them on trying to recapture or hold-on to their Colonial territories in Vietnam and Algeria.... (While Germany invested in rebuilding their economy, on infrastructure and brand new factories.) Germany then, of course, left France in the dust with it's economic 'miracle'.
