Some details on the XO announcement from yesterday, courtesy of Toad. Another major displacement!

FWIW, I have found out that XO will be buying the NBS from Sonus now and will no longer be buying APKT SBCs.

The stability and the scaleability of the NBS is what I am hearing as the deciding factor. But it could clearly also be the fact that XO has a strong relationship with Sonus for many other elements. Whether is it Sonus' technical superiority or simply superiority of relationship, APKT is losing sales to a competitor.

No matter how you slice it, this shows a weakness in APKT's business model and that is that they don't own the customer relationship on over half of their sales. Sonus used to sell APKT SBCs. Now they don't. How long will it take for Ericsson, ALU and the rest to internally develop product as Sonus has?

APKT's future is very bright, but this deficiency in their business model leads me to believe they will have to sell out at some point because they will ultimately be squeezed out of the market by their very own customers. . .
