Ramtron Expands Line of Grade 1 Automotive F-RAM Memory Devices for Use Under the Hood
Tuesday December 4, 9:00 am ET

Five Serial F-RAM Products Now Qualified for +125C Automotive Applications, With Others Planned

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--(MARKET WIRE)--Dec 4, 2007 -- Ramtron International Corporation (NasdaqGM:RMTR - News), a leading developer and supplier of nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memory (F-RAM) and integrated semiconductor products, today added another 4 kilobit (Kb) F-RAM memory device to its Grade 1 AEC-Q100-qualified automotive product line, growing its number of +125 degrees Celsius parts to five. The FM25040A-GA -- a 4Kb, 5V F-RAM with a high-speed serial peripheral interface (SPI) -- is now specified to operate at +125C and is guaranteed to retain data for 9,000 hours at that extreme temperature.

Ideal for advanced powertrain systems, the FM25040A-GA offers fast writes, virtually unlimited endurance, and low power. In stringent data collection applications, F-RAM enables rapid and frequent writes to prevent data loss and guarantee data integrity in noisy automotive environments.

About the FM25040A-GA

The FM25040A-GA is a 4Kb nonvolatile RAM with an industry-standard SPI that leverages the high-speed write capability of F-RAM technology. This 4Kb F-RAM automotive device is a direct hardware replacement for equivalent EEPROMs but offers No Delay(TM) writes, much higher endurance, and lower operating currents. The FM25040A-GA reads and writes at bus speeds up to 14MHz, boasts a 10uA standby current, and includes an advanced write protection scheme to prevent inadvertent writes and data corruption. Operating at 5 volts over the automotive temperature range of -40C to +125C, the FM25040A-GA is guaranteed to retain data for 9,000 hours at +125C degrees and 17 years at +55C degrees, and is available in a "green"/RoHS 8-pin SOIC package.
