It is a good argument for INTC doing custom manufacturing. As long as they have excess capacity there is incentive for them to do this. It requires a different structure of a business unit that a vertically integrated manufacturer / designer / marketer.

I admit to being a doubter. I am not quite a naysayer yet, but doing custom manufacturing is fraught with risks for people who are not prepared for the process. It also invites people into their process that are much more likely to include corporate spies. That could shorten their lead.
