The application looks pretty cool, even though it's not my thing. I didn't have a chance to use it, though, because I kept timing out on the register link.

SGI uses a big web based Java applet for administration of HR stuff on a worldwide basis. It's really big, and performance seems just fine. Of course, we've got a really fast network between CA/MN/WI/Overseas.

Don't you think that the fact that it won't run on IE3 or 4 might say something about IE rather than about Java?

If your Excel/VBA/whatever solution runs fine for you, then that's great, but larger corporations require availability for a multititude of platforms across a very large area. This just isn't going to happen with your solution.

Also, to keep the computational resources centralized isn't a very good idea when you've got thousands of users (unless you've got some really big iron).
