They've started on the low end first and are now the largest maker of Graphic Chips...

...Intel is awesome - I don't think they must steal anything - they can buy it - but more often than not can just create and advance chip design.


Actually, Intel has a long and distinguished history of not being able to make anything but CPUS and chipsets. And the chipset "success" is more a matter of licensing control they get from their CPU business rather than any particular demonstrated competence.

They were chased out of the flash business by Samsung and Spansion, they were chased out of the "large" graphics TV chip graphics business by TI, Sony, and JVC.

It's almost pathetic. Every entrant into that business was able to produce a successful product except Intel. Even JVC blew away Intel in terms of successful graphics chips. jvc.com

Remember when Intel announced it was about to take over the TV graphics chip business in 2004?
