Anyone is better than PC - Rudolf.....PC basically destroyed the company with his hiring and firing practices and "rule from fear" win/lose philosophy. All the good people left the company including me..(I was the designer of Verity's first queries for their "intelligent agent" Topic Agent package...the knowledgebases that they made a tidy 10 million on with the product the following year after I left when the stock hit 58.
Knowing what I knew about the company - it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it would crash and burn bigtime from there..Oh - all the horror stories I could tell you..
Their existing technology is still good though...they just need someone to play win/win - instead of "We win - now screw you"
PC's philosophy was to get as much as he could out of them in 5-6 months & then ax them so that those remained behind would be scared into working harder so as to not lose their jobs...What a philosophy eh? He was manic. It was the antithesis of good management practices and good corporate culture. Jeez - the horror stories I could tell you...But I left before that...(They reniged on signing their proposal to me to pay me royalties on my creations......(what really made the product work)) Within a matter of months - they had adulterated my creations
to the point where they lost all it's performance... Since then - nothing has been able to perform nearly as well....

It's the intelligent object based queries - not the software that ultimately makes the difference..
