"I will be surprised if all the people above knew." I don't see how they could have NOT known. I knew about no-doc, no money down, stated income, "lairs loans" as they came to be called. And I'm not connected at all. I just knew people without jobs in my San Diego Tennis club that got them. By the time I sold out and moved, it seemed like if you could breathe, you could get a mortgage! businessweek.com Everyone tut-tutted about them, but no one actually DID anything, and SOMEONE was funding them.
