But suggestions of second class treat (whether you are getting the finest leftover food or whatever) has stigma.

So, it's offensive to suggest that someone who can't afford first class treatment opt for second class treatment?

I'll remember that before I suggest Ross or Motel6 or the local food bank to someone who can't afford what I can. And be offended when someone better off than I suggests Costco or a new home development or a Toyota to me. Not!

It is helpful and constructive, IMO, to suggest affordable resources to people who need service. I recently searched the web looking for free or low cost vet service for someone who couldn't afford full freight. I thought I was doing a good deed, not being offensive to her. Are you telling me I was mistaken? That I should just let her dog suffer to avoid stigmatizing her? Or maybe you expect me to have paid her vet bill rather than stigmatize her?
