Jim, I don't have any scientific background in this area either (my info about the Yellow Fever came from a *great* news program I watched recently about the US's building of the Panama Canal --- which flat-out stated that we would have never been able to succeed if we hadn't made this scientific leap in epidemiology...)

Apparently, the Yellow Fever virus is capable of SURVIVING inside the mosquito host's body... LIVING in that environment long enough to spread through the mosquito's body, and be secreted from it's salivary glands.

Perhaps the AIDS virus is not capable of this --- living inside the insect's body, in that very different ecosystem then a mammal's body?
