Lam Research to Buy Switzerland-Based SEZ Group for About $568 Million

FREMONT, Calif. (AP) -- Lam Research Corp., which provides wafer fabrication equipment to the semiconductor industry, said Monday it has agreed to buy SEZ Group, which supplies single wafer technology, for about $568 million.
The company said net of cash acquired, the purchase price is about $447 million.

Lam said under the terms of the deal it will buy all of SEZ's outstanding shares for about 38 Swiss francs ($33.69) per share.

After the deal closes, Switzerland-based SEZ will become a division of Lam, Lam said.

Lam said SEZ's chairman and chief executive Egon Putzi will stay with the company.

The deal is expected to close in the March 2008 quarter.

Lam shares rose 41 cents to $47.61 in Monday's trading.
