>>>It can be interesting talking to people from majors eh, they're not like us, don't think like we do ... completely different mindset because they're in a completely different position - always subject to strict bean-counters, they have to justify everything economically right from the start<<<
I think you phrased it a lot better than i could have. Plus they do not necessarly see all the info all at once, they work on their part of study to pre-established standards, then pass it on.
>>You could not run a junior with too much of this attitude, and you couldn't run one for long without enough of it, there's a balance in there between prudence and enterprise, chances must be taken but only after careful assessment of odds <<
Right. I`d rather be lucky than smart as they say, but really in junior investing, it all comes down to a numbers game. x % + y% +z% and then never more than x<or = total PF . Spread it out over at least 7 names, no more than 15 and it should over time work out. It has for me anyway. So far, the names he really didnt like in the past turned out to be dogs. There is always the luck of the drill bit, but at least he can spot the moose pasture being promoted to heaven a mile away. I remember Anooraq and his take on it: I`d go and mine that for sure. Well it took its time, more time than i had patience, still did ok, but geez wished i had held... Starfield Res i think it was, copper in the high arctic, "Nice, but where they are at, they need 4x that to make it a go." And Sultan Minerals : " nothing to get excited about, even assuming they can mine it" But like i said, things can change with a good hole, and they often do, hence the game is on.
>>>mr.to - so he likes Metallica best, well it wouldn't be the first time that tyc's picks worked out, they may be right, Xstrata is putting big bucks into el Morro, chances are they think similarly ... i like the warrants, it's like leverage on leverage, has to trade up heading into january fease time, provided that not too much news of start-up problems comes from Cerro San Pedro<<<
My TA pegs the downside on this one at 3.60. I would be quite happy to add more if i didnt have already my fill. Obviously, the coming decision on a Feasability by Xstrata will make or break the stock short term. In passing, burried it in this message, the big X is looking to acquire a Zn producer. Any names you can think of?
>>>Low grade or narrow widths in high-cost country mean huge energy and/or labour expense, makes Mexico and lands south more attractive, all else being equal ... i had a bit of the kxl.v but sold it, just don't know, wasn't much because my main bid was waiting for a fill of the gap to 3.75, might stick that back in there, might not<<<
KXL `s web page turned me off. Sounded like a lot of promo there. No doubt they found some shiny stuff and money could come in and go, but at this level i thought i would pass and look at better risk reward. Think of what a 30% annual return can do to your PF? Hint, you `d do better than Warren Buffett over time... How many are within a 30% pop without too much risk (risk is always there, for sure, but, say what names are at the pre-feas stage or better, in Mexico, Peru, Chile, Az, Nevada, or similar mining friendly locales? ) that list may not win the single best performers of the year contest, but taken together, your PF would do quite well me thinks.
I`ll throw in three: MR MFL WGI (Ca but all permits obtain i think)
later
