I've never heard that DMSO was dangerous. I did read, many years ago about it penetrating the skin. I don't always do it, but washing the area prior to use is wise. Long ago I read about crushing an aspirin to powder, wash the area you're going to treat and pat the crushed aspirin on while the area is still wet. Then apply the DMSO and rub it in.

I don't think its my imagination, but this seems to give me relief with my hip and a bad wrist. Both flare up occasionally.
