I think your analysis above is right on, but this piece is probably a little overly bearish. AOL will probably be a premium channel on the web as some people, for whatever reasons, seem to find some content over there. They can charge a $4.95/month fee to all of those people, but they still not make money nor justify anything close to their present valuation.
