For any woman reading that post, I discourage a 22 cal., althoug a 22 magnum derringer might be ok as a purse weapon to be only used at very close range, as they are not accurate but both barrels of a 22 magnum ought to discourage a rapist. Especially if loaded with hollow point bullets. For self protection IMHO the very SMALLEST caliber weapon a person should consider is the 380. A 22 LR would require a perfectly fired shot to be very effective and that isnt gonna happen. Whereas if you hit someone ANYWHERE with a 45 they arent gonna bother you anymore. The newer 45's like my Ruger P345 dont kick too bad at all. jdn
