<<<Maybe it would be helpful if you defined how you're using "safety net." To me "safety net," which I fully support, means that we don't leave people bleeding in the street or gasping for breath from emphysema. >>>

By that I mean something equivalent to the safety net provided all citizens of Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Iceland, etc.

I am not advocating that we take away anything for people who can afford to go to the Mayo Clinic, specialists on Park Avenue, etc.

<<<a plutocrat is not the same thing as a capitalist. I don't see any plutocrats here.>>>

We do not have capitalists here like Warren Buffet, George Soros, or even Jeff Immelt ceo of GE advocating that we fix health care and provide a safety net inline pretty much with I think is "right".

What we have here are people insensitive to the plight of the 46 million people without health care insurance. All they can focus on are those that are trying to game the system or those who "choose" to be self insured. No matter how they do the math, there are still tens of million people who do not go see a doctor when they should because they do not have health care insurance.
