I am a scientist first who looks at all chemicals and their effects on our bodies.

We spend thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to develop drugs that are proven to work and proven to be safe at certain dose levels.

If no such work has been done on a specific herbal product then I choose not to use the product. Only products that have completed a lengthy battery of tests will be used by me. Something can be totally effective at controlling one aspects of physiology yet be toxic in other ways and be creating a cumulative negative long term effect. We are required to perform many multi species safety studies, oncological studies if indicated, reproductive studies if indicated along with efficacy. The backup lab work alone is mind boggling as validated assays need to be created to detect the drugs in tissue samples of different species.

I use as few drugs as possible..................just because I work in pharma doesn't mean I support using lots of different drugs..............in fact I recommend the opposite for all............herbal and prescription.
