proof that periodic fasting is good for anyone,

Oh, I have no doubt of it. Now that I SEEN that I have some plaque by getting a Heart Scan, I know I am a candidate down the line for a Heart attack. I just confirmed that I am still in normal range on my LIPID panel, which is good news. Without the scan, I would never have known from the annual LIPID panel that there was a potential problem. Kaiser sent me the results of my blood tests yesterday morning on line last night. Sure is nice to get that kind of service. They are so "on the ball" that they make it possible to immediately punch up a graph showing the lines on my last three tests.

I have added a 81mg aspirin, 20mg of Simvastatin, plus Fish Oil, Vitamin D, L-Arginine and Niacin daily, and am considering going on a fast, then a modified "Mediterranean" diet, maybe wheat-free. I have to balance possible lengthening my life vs eating food I don't like [almost all vegetables] for the rest of my life.

Even though a lot of Cardiologists just go the "diet, statin, stent," route in treating plaque, there are a lot of empirical results showing that you can REDUCE your plaque with supplements and diet. Especially "wheat-free." In any case, there is absolutely no argument that you are better off reducing your weight if you are overweight, as I am. And fasting will help.
