I note that Huckabee has apologized already. Of course, a cynic he apologized after h'd got the idea out there. I think though the episode hurt Huckabee hurt him more than Romney.

Yeah.. I'm pretty cynical about it too.. I think Huckabee fully understands the basic controversial tenets of Romney's faith.. It's well known in the Christian community as such noted Christian scholars, such as the late Walter Martin, have written extensively about Mormonism. And his denial of having any specific knowledge strikes me as disingenuous.

I also agree that it might have caused him some short-term pain, but Romney's in the lead and Huckabee needs to do something to undermine Romney's campaign.

But all this aside, I was just stating the facts as I know them.. If Romney wins the primary, I almost certain that the Democrats will bring the issue up again in an attempt to divide the Christian vote, or at least make them stay home during the election.
