Right... it depends on starting assumptions, and looking at any long term scenario (hundreds of years) parabolic it as:

Notice the last one clearly uses the exponential function to describe growth since 1987.

Now, I agree that signs are all there that things are flattening (inlcuding decimation of corral reefs, rainforests, and other primary producing systems. But it's hard not to describe human growth in a meaningful time frame (how many generations?) as other than parabolic IMHO.
