I lost my respect for Greenspan when, after correctly agreeing with Clinton and Rubin that reducing deficits DO matter, he then agreed with Bush that deficits DON'T matter! At that point, I knew he was just a whore.

The difference is, the Clinton/Rubin policies left the US in generally great shape, to where he handed Bush an operating surplus, a very strong dollar and an extremely mild recession - the mildest in modern history. Of course, at the time we were concerned about more important things like blow jobs and spooge in the Oval Office.

If Bush had continued those fiscal policies, we'd be in even better shape today. Instead, he plunged right back into the supply-side voodoo even Ronald Reagan ended up abandoning. "Easy Al" was right there by his side the whole way.
