| 12/14/07 update The 2007 Biotech Charity Contest has ended and our winner is:
 TECHNET!
Although TECHNET's portfolio has been in the lead since mid-September, it got a last minute scare from the surging portfolios of FILOF (pumped today by BMRN) and ROBERT (pumped yesterday by RIGL). However, in the end, TECHNET held the top spot with a 13.58% YTD gain.
 Mazel Tov, TECHNET!
Despite losing the crown, both FILOF (up 10.43% YTD) and ROBERT (up 9.18% YTD) did beat the Nasdaq Biotech Index 6.07% YTD gain. Mazel Tov to both of you, as well!
Two other portfolios wound up in the black, my own (up 1.77% YTD) and PGONEIL's (up .079% YTD), making it 5 of 31 contestants finishing with a profit for the year.
The median for the contest portfolios finished down -16.71% YTD.Obviously, 2007 was not a good year for small-cap biotechs. Let's hope 2008 will be better!
ATTENTION TECHNET: Please post your favorite charity as soon as possible so contestants can donate their pledge amounts in time to take a 2007 tax deduction.
ATTENTION CONTESTANTS: Please let me know if I've made any significant errors in my numbers. And don't forget to make your donations.
Have a terrific winter weekend everyone!
