If you want to sum our CIA intel problem, you couldn't use a better example than Gates. He spent 30 years there. He doesn't speak, read or write a word of Russian. But he was our top Russian analyst during the 80's. Responsible for completely missing the collapse of the Soviet Empire.

And what is his reward for this? Total triumph in DC.
