Actually, I happen to like Xmas songs but not the day after Halloween. Why? Because I know its an attempt by businesses to cash in on the holiday as early as possible.

Then why did you badmouth evangelical Christians for the activities of merchants? Just looking for an excuse, I think.

Huh? I badmouthed evangelicals for not thinking their is enough of the Christian holiday in the public's view. And if I remember correctly, evangelicals were complaining that merchants were not using the term Merry Xmas enough in their advertising. It seems the evangelicals want more of XMAS, not less.

What about the 25% of the non Christians who are confronted with Xmas at every turn? Does their opinion not matter to you at all? It certainly doesn't to the evangelicals.

I think 25% is a bit high. Maybe you're talking from the vantage of a blue state. But I will reiterate - Nobody is forcing you or anyone else to accept Christianity or celebrate Christmas. Distaste at seeing others celebrate Christmas is bad-hearted intolerance.

According to the CIA, the number of Christians in this country is roughly 76%. It may be higher in the red states but the evangelicals do not limit their complaints to the red states.....they want more Christianity in the public's view everywhere. I wouldn't have a problem if they confined their whining to their own states.

My point is that its never enough for the religious right. Its not enough that there are XMAS displays in every nook and cranny. Its never enough that two months of the year.....1/6 of an entire year is devoted to this holiday. Instead, they want more.....they want everyone saying Merry XMAS to everyone......Jews, Muslims, Agnostics, atheists included. They want everyone to agree that Jesus was the messiah and we must all celebrate his b-day whether we like it or not.

NO ONE is demanding non-Christians become Christian or celebrate Christmas. You are simply intolerant and outraged at seeing so much activity that reminds you that our society has many Christians in it. This disturbs you the same way seeing black people disturbs racists and seeing Jews disturbs antiSemites. People upset at Christmas are bigots, pure and simple.

What disturbs me is that the religious right is never happy. And I think they won't be happy until we have a Christian theocracy.
